MASTERLIST 2020-2021

  • hey, Supreme Court

you want to know why abortion isn’t in the Constitution?

because the Founding Fathers, who you seem to regard as immortal god-kings, would most likely have been okay with it. or at the very least, not thought about it much

in 18th-century England, and its colonies, abortion was widely seen as acceptable until “the quickening” (when the fetus could be felt moving in the womb). which generally happens around 16-20 weeks. based on data collected by the CDC in 2019, about 93% of abortions in the US take place well before then (source). the anti-abortion movement in the US didn’t really take off until the mid-19th century

that’s not to say there was no opposition to abortion, of course. no group is a monolith, and it was broadly quite a conservative time. denying that would be absurd. but the prevailing public opinion seems to have accepted the practice, and it was legal

not that we should be legislating based on history at all, but I think this comfortably proves that these absolute monsters are hypocrites in the bargain. and that they are somehow more conservative than a bunch of wealthy, white, landowning 18th-century men (who, if not enslavers themselves, almost certainly saw no moral conflict in befriending the same)

  • Time zones are an astonishing thing. For example, if you go to the US now, the time is the middle ages.

  • I will never not reblog this little cutie

  • This is pretty adorable, I wonder f this little bugger takes my socks too?.

He does take your socks. And he loves them. Very warm.

  • The ceasefire does not mean we stop, it means our protests and activism is working. We have to keep protesting and boycotting Israeli goods, we have to keep calling on our leaders to put sanctions on Israel. Don’t let up until the apartheid has ended, until Palestine is free.

  • Whatever is happening in Palestine is not just a “Muslim” thing. It’s not just a “little complicated”. Its not a “conflict”. It’s a GENOCIDE. Children are DYING. Homes are being DESTROYED. And people think we cannot help Palestinians. YOU CAN. Here are some ways you can help Palestine:

You can donate. Here are some links.

    Palestine Child Relief Fund

Unrwa, donations for injured Palestinian families.

    Save Palestine Emergency

You can take part in petitions:

call on the U.S. State Department and Department of Defense: Demand an end to Israel’s forced displacement of Palestinians from East Jerusalem

Stop Israel’s forced displacement of Palestinians from East Jerusalem!

You can take part in protests.

If you have any protest happening near where you live, take part in it. Make slogans. Be the voice that Palestinians need.

And most importantly and simplest of all. You can REBLOG THIS POST TO SHARE AWARENESS.

Post and share as much as you can about what is happening in Palestine. Every person counts. Don’t think that if you’re a small blog or a person with less followers, it wouldn’t matter. It matters more than you think. Social media is a powerful platform if it’s used correctly.

  • Khalsa Aid is fucking amazing. They're who you want to donate to, period.

This is one of the few cases where I advocate donating to organisations rather than individuals, because right now, in India, the breakdown of medical infrastructure is so bad that money won't help you. The effort is being carried out now by volunteers who are coordinating resources.

Khalsa Aid is a very old and proven and beloved organisation with absolutely no ties to the hindu government. In fact they have extensive ties to the still-ongoing farmer's protests. They are effective, established, trusted, and sound.
